It was such a joy to work with Wendy and Greg for this post. They are not only friendly, welcoming people, but, as I like to put it... they know their stuff. They both come from advertising and marketing backgrounds, but realized that they also shared a passion for design. They then opened up the furniture store Blackband Design in Irvine, CA. When Wendy visited her clients’ homes, her extraordinary skill at picking out and placing furniture came to light. This organically led the furniture store to include design services. She fell in love with working hands-on with the clients and leads the design elements of the brand. Greg uses his extensive leadership skills to lead the Blackband team and run the business.
Blackband Designs’ signature style focuses on beachy with bohemian undertones. Something I love about Blackband Design is that they like to mess things up a bit. When designing, Wendy never leaves a room ‘done-done’ on purpose. This gives the space a feeling of comfort and casual, while still looking beautifully composed.
Another aspect of Blackband Design is Concierge. Concierge is a service for clients who just want to ‘freshen things up,’ and don’t want a full redesign done. Members from the Blackband team will come to you with items from their showroom and add pieces or switch them out in your space! Brilliant, right? There are three tiers of Concierge: Snap, Crackle, and Pop!
Snap is accessories.
Crackle is furniture accents.
Pop is drapery, rugs, bigger details, etc.,
Not only has Wendy created an amazing showroom, succeeded with her great design skills, and spearheaded Concierge, but she is also a guest lecturer at the UCLA Interior Design and Architecture program. She is gifted, intelligent, and has a great eye.
I was so happy when I heard that Wendy and Greg agreed to be on the blog -- they have created an amazing business and have a great husband and wife dynamic!
